Dave Rowell graduated from the prestigious Tonmeister degree at Surrey University in 2008 and further developed his skills working as an assistant engineer, primarily with Mike Hatch (Floating Earth) and Simon Eadon (Decca Records). Although specialising in location recording & broadcasting classical music his technical skills have also lent themselves to other opportunities, notably as a guarantee engineer for Floating Earth on numerous high profile recordings & broadcasts.

As an engineer Dave has a reputation for excellent recorded sound & a no-nonsense approach to the recording environment. Simplicity is key to most setups & a calm demeanour, no matter the situation, always leads to simple, efficient and outstanding recordings. This philosophy has led to work all across Europe and a continuing relationship with artists with whom he has worked.

Despite graduating in 2008, Dave's freelance career began in 2006 and he continues to build up an extensive recording discography [see releases page for details] & a series of broadcast credits. He has worked with a wide variety of ensembles ranging from solo instruments to chamber and orchestral to opera encompassing repertoire from early music right through to new contemporary commissions. As a broadcast engineer he has been fortunate to work alongside Andy Scarth for the Classical iTunes concerts since 2012 & has guaranteed the Floating Earth broadcast truck on numerous occasions working in particular with Toby Allington on shows including Adele Live at the Royal Albert Hall [2012], British Summertime in Hyde Park [2014] & Kylie Minogue 'Aphrodite' at The O2 [2012]. 

As an editor Dave is in demand not only for his technical abilities with Pyramix (his preferred editing software) but also his musical ear to refine & craft performances captured on session. This has led to several awards, particularly notable amongst which is that for the Signum Classics recording of Peter Grimes. 

From early 2018 Dave has been added to the Mastered For iTunes approved suppliers list which means that all recordings can be mastered with the MFiT logo stamp. This also applies to projects where he is engaged just for the mastering stage of the post production.
